Kanyakumari

Kanyakumari is located at the southern tip of the Indian subcontinent. Kanyakumari is 20 kms away from south of Nagercoil. It is famous for its beautiful views of sunrise and sunset over the waters. The one of the main attractions of the city is the temple of Goddess Bhagavathi.There are three Prakaras in the temple. Other famous tourist spots of Kankyakumari are the Gandhi Memorial, Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Thiruvalluvar Statue.



Suchindrum

Suchindrum is located 5 km south-east to the district capital Nagercoil. The Thanumalayan Temple located in Suchindrum is famous for its sculptural richness and tall tower. Thanumalayan Temple is dedicated to Sri Thanumalayan. The word denotes Siva, Vishnu and Brahman as. Thanu represents Siva; Mal represents Vishnu while Ayan represents Brahman i.e. Siva, Vishnu and Brahman in "One Form".



St. Xavier Church

St. Xavier Church is 16 kms away from south of Nagercoil The church records show that the church was built in the year 1600 A.D, and it is dedicated to St. Francis Xavier, a Catholic priest who came to India.



Padmanabhapuram Palace

Padmanabhapuram Palace is Located 55 km away from Thiruvananthapuram on the highway to Nagarcoil- Kanyakumari. It was an ancient Capital of the Travancore rulers until 1798 A.D. The palace with an area of seven acres is situated in the very centre on the Padmanabhapuram Fort, amidst hills, dales and rivers. The walls of its central hall are profusely decorated with mural paintings. The themes of paintings are various episodes and moments drawn from Hindu epics



Kumarakovil

Kumarakovil is West of Nagercoil. The Lord Murugan Temple is built on the hillock about 200 feet height in a lush green field of Paddy, Plantain and Coconut trees. The temple is noted for architectural beauty. Goddess Valli, the spouse of Lord Subramanian, the Presiding deity, is also enshrined in the temple by the side of Lord Subramanian. The right side of the temple there is one big lake, suitable for boating.



Thengapattinam Beach

Thengapattinam Beach is 35 kms away from Nagercoil. Thengapattinam Beach is an excellent picnic spot with backwater facilities. As coconut trees are abundant in this place, the place might have derived this name. The mosque at Thengapattinam is about 1,200 years old. This village had, in ancient times, trade relations with foreign countries like Arabia . There was direct Cargo boat service between Thengapattinam and other foreign maritime towns.


Olakkay Aruvi Waterfalls

The Olakkay Aruvi is 14 kms away from Nagercoil. The beautiful waterfalls and the natural scenery all around the place attract many holiday seekers and tourists and this place has become an important picnic centre. A small temple connected with the sage Agasthiar near the falls attracts a large number of religious people on full moon day of the Tamil month Chithirai (April-May) and they worship at the altar, after bathing in the falls. It is one of the places known for trekking too.
